His second life had ended February 7, 2007. Since his rebirth Maitek Henry had turned his gaze toward the future. He wanted no more reminiscence, unless it caused a smile on his lips. Since 1957, he had worked as a photographer in Cologne. With his Rolleiflex he placed the human being of any background, of any religion and of all ages in the center of his photographic work.

De 1970 à 1982 il a servi comme membre du parlement albanais pendant le régime totalitaire d’Enver Hoxha et a été autorisé à voyager et à publier à l’étranger. Dans une interview pour Libération, il a dit »Face à un tel pouvoir un grand écrivain isolé est comme un arbre marqué pour être abattu.
